I'm a winner!

The Fortune Writer, a short film directed by Eric Gross and edited by me just won the LES Film Festival for "Best Dramatic Short".

The LES Film Festival takes place in New York City's Lower East Side, and features films made for less than $30,000. Congrats to everyone involved!

Here's a short description of film...
Kirby works in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant typing out fortunes for fortune cookies. When a lonely woman walks into the restaurant and piques Kirby’s interest, Kirby is faced with the challenge of writing his most difficult fortune yet. (8:46)

Best Birthday Ever!

As some loyal readers may know, I recently celebrated a birthday. Brent made me a delicious breakfast, which we enjoyed on the front porch, before giving me a ride to work. When I arrived, I found this beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for me on my desk! Thanks Joint Editorial!

Brent picked me up from work, and surprised me by taking me to dinner at Toro Bravo. It is probably my favorite restaurant in Portland, featuring tapas and small plates to share. We got the tasting menu and it was amazing!

I thought the dinner was my surprise, but little did I know what Brent had in store. We decided (on a whim) to go bowling. We got our shoes and started our game, when suddenly our friend Stafan appeared. "What a coincidence!" I exclaimed. Then I saw Matt & Alea. Then Jamie & Jay. "Surprise!!!!!!!!" it was a surprise bowling birthday party! I've never had a surprise party before, and I was totally shocked. It was the best!!!

Apparently Brent has been reading my blog, specifically the "Somebody Give me an award" post, because he asked everyone to bring me a trophy of some kind. I even got a pineapple (which ended up being the most wonderful pineapple I've ever tasted)!

Then in GEB fashion, Brent gave me an award for winning the most awards. Hahaha.

My presents from Molly included a retro apron, an awesome leaf necklace, and some homemade chocolate cookies.

My sister Shawn got me this adorable dress! Thanks Shawn!

And to top it off, Brent got me THE BEST CAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN. It features dinosaurs doing trapeze!!! He even had the dinosaur doing my latest trick, an uprise forward over!!!! What a great boyfriend.

Thank you to everyone who made my birthday so special!

Somebody give me an award!

A few weeks back, I got a last minute call from an incredible director named Trevor McMahan. He needed help editing an entry for a Mofilm contest, which could win us a trip to the Cannes advertising festival in France (oo la la!). Oh yeah, and we had about 36 hours to create the spot, since the deadline was rapidly approaching.

We were finalists in the contest, but ultimately did not win the prize. Nevertheless, I'm really proud of this spot, and I have decided to award it with the first ever Karte Blanche Blue Ribbon! I'd like to extend a special thanks and congratulations to our incredible actor, Blaine Kneece, who really deserves to be recognized for his hard work on an unbearably hot and humid day of outdoor shooting in NYC. All Karte Blanche Blue Ribbon winners will receive a can of Pabsts Blue Ribbon beer. Congrats to all involved. View the winning spot by clicking on the image below...

UPDATE: We actually did get an award from Mofilm. We were runners up in the contest and won a Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera. I guess you can tally that as 2 awards! Congratulations us!
